Hello Boys and Girls,

We have a special treat for you today.  It’s a Tereu Tereu video for the song Cheers! off our forthcoming full-length.  It was made by our friend Jason.  Apparently, he bought the America’s Funniest Home Videos boxed set and just had to do something with it.  We love it:

Come see us play on Thursday with our good friends Sean Walsh and Tim Cleary at The Loft.  It’s 18+ and we’d love to see you there.

Hey Kids,

I am writing you from our producer Devin’s basement.  The record is almost mixed.  Sounds crazy, I know, but after all this time, it’s… almost… there.  My brain is melting as we push through dilemmas like, “Should we take out the second guitar for that one measure?” and “Is the background vocal double a little too high in the second verse?”  And then, after we painstakingly decide which way to go, Pro Tools freezes up because there are too many automations running at the same time or because we lowered the buffer speed to compensate for latency.  I know you’re thinking, “You idiot, of course you have to raise the buffer speed when you’re running so many plug ins at once,” but hey buddy, it’s after midnight and I’m exhausted, cut me some slack.

Devin working hard

Devin is putting more ROCK in the mix.

Anyhow, there’s a couple things I should let you know.  First of all, if you kids use that new fangled “facebook” website, be sure and become our “fan” by clicking here.  Apparently, that’s the hip thing to do these days.  Oh, as long as we’re talking nerdy, you may have noticed our twitter at the bottom of the page.  I try and update that as often as I can–which is not nearly often enough for you stalker-types, I’m sure–and we’d love it if you followed us.

Well, back to adjusting reverb levels and decay rates and such.  I think we’ve got one, maybe two songs left to tweak.  Then we’ll be mastering it all in December I believe.  There’s no particular release date yet, but there may be more on that topic soon…

I am exhausted.

I am exhausted.

See you at the FREE SHOW in Richmond on Wednesday!

HEY DUDEZ:

I saw NIN the other day–weird, I know–but they were awesome.  Seriously.  I did not expect the intense arena rock that melted my face off, but melt my face off it did.  They have this unbelievable light/visual thing that is unlike anything I’ve seen.  It’s impossible to really capture on youtube, but this gives you an idea:

Essentially, it was like seeing the newest Batman movie after only watching Wes Anderson movies for months.  Sure, I love The Life Aquatic with all my heart, but The Dark Knight was EPIC.

Also, we’ve got more shows coming up.  We’re playing in Richmond the day before Thanksgiving for FREE at Toad’s Place with Prabir & The Substitutes.  If you’re in RVA, you’d better be there!

In other news, I recently rediscovered Garfield Minus Garfield.  Brilliant.

Hey guys,

In the wake of this whole new post-election insanity, I forgot we even had this thing.  Turns out everything hasn’t quite changed as much as I thought.  I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m totally excited about our new leader.  It’s just… I was hoping Obama would bring us eco-friendly flying cars that use trash for fuel by now.  Maybe that wasn’t the change he was talking about?  Well, I’ll settle for hoverboards as long as they’re here in time for Christmas.

In any case, we’re rocking the crap out of Charlottesville on Sunday.  That town will be entirely crapless after our set, so be prepared.  The show starts early, and it’s at the Outback Lodge.  Be there!

We’re going into the studio next week to (hopefully?) finish mixing the record.  Man, sometimes these things take a while.  It’s cool though, after this one goes triple we’ll be able to afford to finish the next one a little more quickly.  I can’t wait until Kanye remixes our single.

Also, we’ve got some shows in the works with our pal Sean Walsh, which I couldn’t be more excited about.  Sean’s forthcoming album is going to break your heart and refuse to leave your iPod.  It’s going to be on every hipster’s mixtape (or muxtape, as it were).  Seriously, what I’ve heard so far is gut-wrenchingly gorgeous, and I can’t wait to get a copy for myself.  More word on said show(s) soon.  For now, just remember: Whatever you do, do not to ride your hoverboard on water.

Congratulations, America.

Love,

Tereu Tereu

Hey kiddos:

We’re rocking the Black Cat next Monday. If you haven’t already, go ahead and BUY YR TIX!

We’re playing The Loft on Thursday. It’ll be eerie and spectacular. There will be a costume contest, so feel free to wear your craziest outfits. This year you get two nights in a row where you’re allowed to look ridiculous.

Here’s a creepy video from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs for you:

Anyone else ready for this election to be over? I mean, it’s been really exciting, sure, but I’m ready for a new start. If you’re still on the fence and looking for some unbiased last-minute info, or if you just want to cut through the latest media hype, be sure and check out FactCheck and OnTheIssues. Both are non-partisan powerhouses.

We played an Obama thing on campus last Saturday, and it was a very good time. Thanks to everyone who came out. We’ve got a couple shows coming up, as you can tell by looking to your right or checking myspace. We’re nearing completion on the album–we’re hoping to get it done in November? I’m not running for office, so I won’t make any promises, but next month is looking good.

On an entirely unrelated note, the new Ryan Adams record comes out next week. I’m pretty stoked.

After some brief server trouble, tereutereu.com is back in action! Good timing too. We’ve got more shows for you, and they’re all exciting. As previously announced, this Saturday we’ll be playing with Blackstrap and Paul Michel in Ball Circle at UMW around 5:00 PM. It’s totally free, what more do you want???

Next up is an October 30th (18+) pre-Halloween show at The Loft. We’re playing with our buds Junk Science and the brand new F’burg rock outfit, Sweet Old Etcetera. There will be an optional costume contest for those of you awesome enough to dress like something ridiculous. Please surprise me with something outrageous.

November should bring some hip shows too, but more on that later. For now, just take a gander at this photo from our FAA II set. Yes, that is Jeremy from Junk Science on sax and Luca playing a home-made electric melodica. Good times:

Hey Kids!

Sorry for the delay in updating.  My laptop crapped out on me at the end of a long and fruitful weekend.  The show on Friday was fantastic–thanks to everyone who managed to get a ticket in time.  On Saturday and Sunday we were back in the studio.  We mixed two more songs, and they came out even better than I had anticipated.  This record is definitely going to surprise some of you; we’ve never even performed some of the tracks.  I can’t wait to finish it.

When can you see us next?  We’re playing fo’ free on UMW campus, Saturday, October 18th at 5:00 PM.  Paul Michel (killer songwriter from DC) and Blackstrap (gorgeous psychedelic-pop from Sweden!) are playing as well.  The show is sponsored by the UMW Young Democrats, and it’s to encourage everyone to get out and (Barack the) vote!

A preview of the awesomeness to come:

TONIGHT’S SHOW IS SOLD OUT. HOPE YOU ALREADY GOT YR TICKET!

A.  Did you get to see Barack Obama speak at UMW???  It was awesome!

B.  If not, we’re playing a Barack rally at UMW on October 18th inside Great Hall at 7PM.  Paul Michel will be there too.  More details to come…

C.  Does anyone else love that new Death Cab record?  Maybe it’s not “hip” or “groundbreaking,” but I keep listening to it and enjoying it.

D.  This Saturday, Jukebox The Ghost will be playing the Black Cat.  I’ll be there, you should come?

E. Tereu Tereu + Birdmonster + Carlos I’m Pregnant.  This Friday at Wounded Bookshop.  7PM.  Be there! SOLD OUT!
