Biography
The band began in Fredericksburg, VA in 2006 as a noisy two-piece called The Reformation: Ryan brought Ross a few songs, and the two of them played much too fast. Over time, the band expanded in scope, adopted the moniker Tereu Tereu, and added Adam on bass and Matt on trumpet. In 2007, they released a split with The Light Footwork, and in 2009 they released their debut album, All That Keeps Us Together. The band toured up and down the mid-Atlantic and played with bands like Ra Ra Riot, Foals, Jukebox the Ghost, Georgie James, Birdmonster, Maritime, The Good Life, and Pomegranates.
In late 2009, Ross moved to NYC for grad school, Matt moved to Austin for Americorps, and Adam parted ways to focus on his new marriage. After a move to DC, a slew of auditions, and various temporary reincarnations, Brendan took over drum duties and Thomas took on the low end.
The band, now a three-piece, plays disjointed pop music, mixing elements of DC post-punk with classy melodies. They run ear-pleasing hooks through oddball time signatures and punctuate their songs with feedback-laden freak outs. The result is adventurous but accessible. The continuing evolution of the band has brought more focus and darker undercurrents to the music.
